Well we have certainly been racking up the miles (not kilometres) on foot during our second week in the UK!!
We had a fun weekend being tourists visiting the Tate Modern (and avoiding the Viennese Actionism exhibition), wandering the City and enjoying the sunshine on a moored boat, The Tattershall Castle, on the Thames.
On Saturday we also visited the Sir John Soane’s Museum. Sir Soane was an architect in the 18th & 19th century and he turned his house into a museum. It was just an amazing place – fascinating architecture and an impressive collection of artefacts. It will be somewhere that we will definitely be going back to as, even though it was a small museum, it was pack to the rafters so you would see something different every time. www.soane.org
David had some promising final interviews this week but for whatever reason did not get any of the roles so he is starting the process again.
I have a meeting with an agent tomorrow and a couple of other interesting nibbles so it is all just starting on the job hunting adventure for me.
As part of our endeavours to cover as much of London on foot as humanly possible we have found an area we would be keen to live in – we really like Fulham, Hammersmith and Putney. While we found the perfect apartment in Fulham we have decided not to burn all of our savings on the four month deposit that is required because we don’t pass the reference checks yet. We have instead rented a cheap and cosy studio (read tiny) in Hammersmith for a month so we move in there on Tuesday.
Hopefully that we allow us enough time to find jobs and somewhere permanent to live before our kitty, Prism, arrives in early August.
Whilst I am enjoying being unemployed and leading the life of (cheap) leisure, the shopping seems fantastic here so that is motivating me to get a job ASAP. I think I might also be getting sick of the limited supply of clothes I have until the rest of our stuff arrives in mid-August.
It would be great to hear how everyone is going, so don’t forget to leave your comments on our blog – just click on the tiny link below.
